Never get added to a WhatsApp group again

You're sitting there minding your business and BAM! You're added to a wedding committee WhatsApp group 😩. Let me show you how to ensure you never get added to another WhatsApp group without your permission again.

Open your WhatsApp

I am using an iPhone but the instructions are similar on an Android device.

Fire up the WhatsApp app and click Settings

Under Settings click Account

Under Account, click Privacy

Under Privacy, click Groups

Under Groups, if you're suffering, you probably have "Who can add me to Groups" set to "Everyone".

Click My Contacts Except...

Under My Contacts Except..., you can select the specific problem individuals who are prone to adding you to groups, or Select All contacts and prevent anyone from automatically adding you to groups.

The blue arrows show you how to select specific individuals while the red ellipse shows you how to select all contacts

After clicking Select All because you are TIRED, click Done.

At the top of the frame, WhatsApp shows you the total number of contacts excluded from adding you to groups

⚠️: If you exclude all your contacts from adding you to groups, the only way you can join groups is by having a link shared with you directly and opting in.
